Happy Thanksgiving! Part 1

Shaz FM: With Me by Sum-41
Feeling: Tired

11 days since I've last posted, and a lot has happened since then too -_- Ok so here goes:

You know last Monday was formal, yeah? A pretty awesome day I must say. Relaxed in the morning before me and mum went to Junction 8 to get me nails done. Didn't bother with hair cause I figured I could just go with the flow. Oosh (the place where the formal was being held) was bloody gorgeous! Everyone looked excellent and were all already sipping away on wine and beer. The food was bloody amazing as well. Ate so much pasta haha. The night seemed to go by slowly but fun at first then before you knew it, it was midnight. Some of my friends were beyond drunk XD Hilariousness. I did one vodka shot with Bec to represent our friendship over the last 2 years and had a little of cocktails but I wasnt drunk. I did however have the decency to bring Bec home after her drinking fest lol. Got home and just went to bed. Oh, I did my makeup too :P

The next day was spent walking around to random places and catching up with my mother. We watched The Game Plan ft. The Rock. OMG! The funniest movie I've seen in a while. He's a pretty good actor, and his singing is pretty good too. The storyline was sweet as well. After that, I went to Bec's place to eat dinner and hang before I went for my Linkin Park concert. HOLY CRAP, THAT WAS AWESOME! It started an hour later but DAMN! Worth all my money. Obviously I should have just spent like 30-50 dollars more and doshed it out in the mosh pit but I was only using my own money and I didnt have enough. I had a seated ticket but my booth was ghey. People didnt really want to stand up cause they had the chairs. I was a bit shy at first but then I thought 'Stuff this, Ive paid this much' and stood up and head banged and sang my way through the concert. So much for headbanging responsibly though, my head was aching the next day XD BUT IT WAS SO TOTALLY WORHT IT.

The next day, we woke up early (although my body refused to even get up) and packed a little. Damn, I don't know how much stuff I had. We filled 4 bags and still it wasn't enough! We each had a carry-on bag (we were flying), a suitcase and our handbags. Oh yeah, not forgetting my laptop bag -__-. Mind you, my handbag was one of those big leather bags which had a bit of my stuff in there too. Our flight got cancelled lol, but we managed to transfer to an earlier flight. Got home and just had a quiet night in because parents had a night out. The next night was used with a nice roast beef dinner. I spent the next few days, stressing out about playing the piano at Nelson and Shufen's wedding. I bought the book on friday and only started practising on saturday when the wedding was on Tuesday! I was happy I wasnt bringing my laptop down this time around. On Sunday, we went out for lunch at Eest, which was fabulous. After that, me and mum were dropped off at Sungei Wang to look for pressies for my cousins, Michelle and Danny. Btw, my aunt Ann is down, and has been for the past month. She's leaving this saturday though.

I was also looking for a wedding present. I was checking out some of the shops in Sungei Wang and damn~ I most definitely want to go shopping. I'm supposed to look for some christmas gifts. I got some money from SG so I can convert that and get some dosh.

Monday was travelling back to SG day. Took the 7.30am bus from MV. I didnt want to bring my iriver cause its USB-charged and the storage is shiet so I borrow Dina's ipod shuffle which helped. I had a book but I entertained myself by texting Rae. Arrived around 1pm and stayed in Orchard for a good 3 hours. Nelson came down cause he had to meet a friend so I just walked around. The night was a pretty nice one. Spent it watching TV with Eliza. The next day was tiring, but it had to be one of the best days I have had in my life.

Woke up at 6am with a nice wakeup text from Milan. I was already hearing voices at 6am downstairs. You know why? Because it's Nelson and Shufen's wedding day! They had a traditional chinese wedding start so it meant Nelson and his best men (otherwise known as 'the Brothers') had to go to Shufen's house. The men have to do anything the 'sisters' tell them to do. This included drinking something horrid with blue colouring, wasabi crackers, wearing old granny underwear over their suits and paying a sum of $699 to the sisters before Nelson got to see Shufen. I was out of the house by 7am cause I had to meet Dr. Lai Poh San, one of dad's close friends for a blood test (for Aus). I had to take the bus and MRT 15 stops from Toa Payoh to Dover. Dover is also the MRT station with the Singapore Polytechnic. I noticed in the morning that there were heaps of people off to work, and that those Poly students would be the same as me, all dressed up for a day in their course. Obviously Poly is different to Uni, but they wear normal clothes and even if they look simple, they all look good O__o

Anyway, took a drive to NUS (National University of Singapore) where Poh San showed me around. I was amazed at how huge the university was. They have a faculty for everything, dorms, gym and a HOSPITAL. Poh San was head of Research for the NUS Department of Paediatrics, and she's responsible for finding cures and treating those with diseases. This included the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) disease, which is the disease Adam has. Before we took the blood test, she worked with me through what their research does and what they find. She's a soft spoken person but the things she thought me were great. I felt like I knew more about my brother's condition, and how it came about and the things that they're doing. I've met her before but it was only that day that I really realised that this woman was yet another role model for me, just like Adam and my dad were. She opened my eyes to things that my parents have done, and being a foolish little young adult, I should really be more appreciative for what my parents have sacrificed to get us where we are now. They took my blood, but we did it as research, so that we didnt have to pay. This would also see if I might or might not be a carrier. It's a gene pool thing. Females do not get DMD but the son of a carrier has a 50% chance of developing the disease. It is currently an uncurable disease and DMD patients have a lower life span. I try not to get annoyed with my brother because I know he's suffering a little with the condition. Here's a bit of info on her research.

After all the tests, Poh San took me out for breakfast. Over it, we talked about travelling. Oh man, I was so interested and jealous(!) for the things she's seen and been to. She's gone to all those places, China, Cambodia, Europe, Taipei etc. The stories she told me were fascinating. I love travelling and the stories people tell. She's known my dad for a long time and I greatly appreciate having my parents as well, my parents. Despite their flaws, they're still great people and I can only strive to reach their level and teach what I've learnt to my own children, when the time comes. I finished with her around 11 so I had a bit of time to kill before I went back home. I decided to go to Marina Square to look around. Got a chrimbo present for Dina so now there's the rest of my family, Kira's birthday, Milan, Rae, my other friends rawr. I even watched a movie (Bratz lawl). I even had a little time to pay Bec a visit. After that, I rushed back home around 4 to get ready for the wedding. Was going earlier to test out the piano.

This concludes Part 1 of my recaps. I should go have my Thanksgiving dinner now. We have turkey and pumpkin pie. When you have an American Aunt, go with the flow! I'll post back after that on the wedding, yesterday and today :) Cheers xx.
